The cover of this magazine reports an event on par with the American Revolution, or the cotton gin, but few have seen it and even fewer know what an Altair 8800 is. Less than forty years later the world is controlled by smart phones, streaming movies, and text messages sent voice.

  1. I recall helping my dad solder parts of the Altair together. I thought he must have been a genius to communicate with the computer without a keyboard.  All of our old computers (pretty much everything from the Altair to the IBM XT) were confiscated by the Mexican government when he moved there briefly for a University job in 1994. Tragic!
