Economic reports show loss of jobs in Massachusetts due to the $10.00 an hour minimum wage hike. The job losses are in hospitality and leisure.
In California, near my Sherman Oaks office, quite a few businesses closed when minimum wage went up to $10.00 and there were laws of continued hikes up to $15.00 an hour.
In Massachusetts there are reports of a 57 employee grocery store closing and numerous business deciding not to renew their leases. The same happened in California.
Too sudden and too high minimum wage acts are extremely poor policy. They cause the loss of jobs for workers at these levels, and the closure of many small businesses. Small businesses will not deal with the situation.
